If you can't find wild hunted chicken to buy, at least buy ecological.
If you buy regular chicken and eggs it means you hire somebody to keep chicken in extremely bad conditions on your behalf.
If you buy ecological, at least you hire those who keep chicken in not too bad conditions. They still pretend to be the friends of chicken before they kill them, but this is still a better option of the two.
Eating unedible things like plants is not an option.
You cannot save all the chicken while all the masses continue to buy tortured meat and eggs, but if others choose to torture, do you also want to torture if you have an option? It is not about unilaterally saving the world, it is about doing the bad thing or not doing.
Hiring smb to do the thing for you equals doing it yourself.
Same thing applies to everything, not just chicken.
Most obvious: why buy farmed fish if there is plenty of wild fish? Are you too lazy to read the label to check where the fish comes from? Even prices aren't different.
