Also depends on soft neck vs hard neck.

I always get them mixed up but one you can propogate from the bulnis (i think softneck) the other your best of saving some of the cloves over winter and replanting them.

Almost everything in my garden is now on its 5 or 6 generation of mash up since reading his book.
