Maybe private relays, private groups/communities could increase privacy but still give you the opportunity to socialize with your friends.

I only see so far, that it can be only solved by per note ecash payments.
This way, you don't need subscriptions, you don't need an account, you just pay as you use. Then it also worth for the relays, but they don't need account managment, subscription management to maintain their service.
Similar to what nostr:npub1h0uj825jgcr9lzxyp37ehasuenq070707pj63je07n8mkcsg3u0qnsrwx8 is proposing.
