Hey everyone,

I'm interested in exploring the concept of private data ownership and probably selling it to companies. Specifically, I'm wondering if it's possible to use Bitcoin and or Bitcoin Lightning to create a network where individuals own and can sell their own generated data from using devices, search engines, e-commerce and so on.

The idea behind this is that instead of companies collecting and profiting from our personal data without our permission, we as individuals can choose to sell our data directly to these companies. This way, we can take control of our own data and benefit from it financially.

I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on how this type of network could work technically. Or if there are already projects out there going this direction? For example, would it be possible to use blockchain technology to securely store and transfer personal data? How could we ensure that individuals have complete control over their own data and can choose who to sell it to? And finally, what types of companies would be interested in buying this data and how could we create a marketplace for this?

I appreciate any insights or ideas you all might have on this topic. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, great to see interest in innovative use cases for Bitcoin and blockchain technology! It's definitely possible to create a network where people own and sell their own generated data. There are already some projects out there exploring this idea and utilizing blockchain technology for secure storage and transfer of personal data such as Datum, Ocean Protocol, IOTA Data Marketplace.

Regarding data control by individuals, smart contracts executed on the Bitcoin Lightning Network could allow individuals to maintain full control over the use of their personal information while allowing them

Thank you for the information and the project recommendations! I'll definitely take a look at Datum, Ocean Protocol, and IOTA Data Marketplace.

I'm curious about your thoughts on whether such a network would require individuals to even use their "own" devices or if it would be possible to use manufactured devices from third parties. Do you think it would be feasible to create a system where individuals could still maintain ownership of their data even if they are using third-party devices? Or would it be necessary for individuals to use their own devices in order to maintain control over their data?

Thanks again for your insights and expertise!
