Why does stock Android still not have anything like Samsung DeX? Not even on my Pixel. And yes I tried enabling the various developer settings. Still can't get it to output a desktop UX via HDMI. Such an obvious feature for AOSP and Samsung has had it for years.

(And yes I know the TV isn't fitting it properly, easy fix in the settings but I'm at a hotel and they blocked access to the settings menu. Cba wasting time tryna get around it.)

That’s such a cool feature! Apparently I’ve been on the Apple side too long and never noticed it before.

It is really cool. Samsung and LG have it on their Android phones. Maybe some other OEMs too. I find it crazy Google hasn't added it to AOSP.

Speaking of Apple, tried originally to use an iPad hooked up to HDMI just to watch a show on Netflix but at the end of each episode the screen went blank and the Netflix app just froze up instead of starting the next episode.

Did this every single time despite trying the usual troubleshooting steps (reboot etc) but my Samsung did it just fine.

Was honestly surprised. Not a huge Apple fan but I always assumed they had media consumption down.

It's rumoured the Pixel 8 will get something similar.

Hopefully true! I've seen rumours of it being added to the Pixel for years now. Think it was meant to come with the Pixel 6.
