Not planets, but these are some of my own astrophotography images captured a few years ago. This is what is possible by an amateur from a suburban backyard, but it needs the right equipment for astrophotography.

The P900 and other similar superzoom cameras are fine for some purposes but not for astrophotography. Photographing objects in space with this type of camera are likely to give results that are low resolution, poorly focused and have a lot of distortion.

Wow, nice shots Phil! Could you give any detail on the equipment you used and the processing involved?

Thanks! The telescope was a William Optics ZenithStar 61mm MARK II on a Skywatcher EQM-35 mount. The camera was ZWO ASI533MC Pro. Captured using APT and processed with PixInsight. I don’t remember exactly but I think they were 1 or 2 minute subexposures and a total exposure time of about 3 hours.

And why would you need the "right equipment"? Surely just point to sky and see like with the p900.
