someone explained that the way in which one pays the user for publications can be a defense against bots, not to decassert them, but because with saps, one rates better that publication has more impact than using likes. depending on whether you don't give the bots any sap, in the end the bots will end up talking only to each other.

Yes, if communities choose to they can only interact with humans. This will require some form of web of trust rather than simply discerning by content alone. However, I’m not sure we should shun all AI. I think deciding case by case on which entities communities choose to support might be a better approach.
