Paste the gif link into your note (at least if you’re using Damus it should render when you post it).
Just make sure it’s the original URL that ends with .gif and not a link full of tracker/utm parameters (ie all the stuff that comes after a ? in the link that tells Google who clicked it).

I mean that technically works… but you can just save and upload gifs. It works fine.
