Do you always want to see all the content posted by all your follows in the chronological fashion?

Do you want to include the replies they post? The likes they give? What about their zaps?

Do your responses change when dependent on how long you've been logged out? Does it change dependent on the number of npubs you follow?

- All these are arbitrary choices that theclientt HAS TO make. I think we should be asking for transparency and user control of their definition of relevance.

- I don't think we should be villanizing attempts to improve relevance beyond basic chronological sorting

What’ll happen is someone will make the nostr algo (tm) and then one particular group entrenched in tech will come round and demand it censor any “transphobia” (etc) and if the devs don’t, they’ll start shrieking about how they’re nazis, and then they’ll try to dox them and get them fired.

And then the "I told you so" will start happening, but by that time some other cool new network will have been started that's totally different this time.

And so it goes.

Exactly. The incentives for censorship are different here. Target one client, several others will pop up the next day. All censored people and go there with 2-3 clicks, point at the censor, show him the finger and laugh.
