Courage is rare. Abundance bred selfishness, making us complacent and apathetic, unable to fight evil or defend truth (see Tytler cycle). We lost the resolve to confront moral threats, choosing the easy path and calling it empathy. We forgot we're at war.

The enemy didn't. He thrives on our inaction, knowing prolonged silence weakens our ability to act or feel (CS Lewis). Our "strategic silence" empowered him. We convinced ourselves that feeling anger over injustice was enough, staying measured and kind, singing "they will know we are Christians by our love."

We acted like peacetime rulers in wartime, mistaking "peacemakers" for "peacekeepers," leading to more bloodshed and darkness. Silent too long, we forgot how to fight. Our swords are useless in soft hands. The bold fighters we criticized are now scarce.

Too many excuse evil, and the devil laughs. This can't continue. Men must rediscover courage, raise sons to confront evil within and in society, and crush it. This is the ancient path—walk it.
