Wireguard is the way if you have the patience. It's a VPN software stack that is directly embedded in the Linux kernel. You write a local configuration file and you have a tunnel, just like that. No KYC, no new software installation, no nothing.
The only downside is that even though it's just a config file it's still a bit involved to set up. But IMO worth it.
Let’s pretend i would be capable of setting that up (doubtful, i’m using umbrel for a reason). Are you saying this can be a vpn for my raspberry pi node specifically as opposed to my phone or computer?
It can be both.
For instance I have a Wireguard network set up on my node at home and use it to log in remotely. Then I have another Wireguard network set up on a rented server somewhere and use that as a traditional VPN when I'm browsing the web but want to hide my IP.
There are lots of possibilities once you learn how to build virtual private networks :)
If you want a good VPN you should try Mullvad! No email and pay with bitcoin🤝
Yeah although the purpose for tailscale is supposed to be a vpn for your node so you can access outside your local network without having to wait on tor

Yeah I used Tailscale for a while but I read that it was a risk of doxxing you IP address so I stopped using it. I’m using Mullvad now but I haven’t been able to set it up so I can access my node. Don’t know if it’s even possible🤷♂️
