The Holocaust is basically war propaganda that no historian believed for 20 years after WW2 until Hollywood picked it up.

Accounts from the time describe killing people in vacuum chambers, electric floors, rollercoasters into a pit, making soap out of bodies, making mattresses out of hair, and so on. All of these are now rejected by scholars.

The pictures of piles of bodies are from camps (eg Nordhausen) that didn't have a gas chamber and modern scholars don't contend were extermination camps. Instead, these people died from Allied bombs and lack of supplies (food and medical) as German industrial capacity collapsed late in the war.

The "gas chamber" at Auschwitz doesn't make sense as a gas chamber and key features of it (eg vents to introduce poison) were "restored" by Polish authorities after the war.
