Just joined the fatherhood club 2 months ago. I find it hard to comprehend how any parent can beat their child. But it certainly explains why so many people resort to violence to resolve disputes - that’s exactly what they were modeled as children. I also only recently realized just how financially and culturally pressured parents are to abandon their kids in day care and get back to work. Before, I hated the state in principle, but that hatred hits in a much more visceral way now.
