Its unfortunate that this map chose green, purple and yellow/gold colors to depict the bad places that either ban or charge for plastic bags.

Banning plastic bags is fucking stupid.
Plastic is a fucking shitcoin.
Bring your own bag is stupid hippie shit. They got rid of bags at the Walmart across the state line so I stopped shopping there altogether. Now I just order all that same shit from Amazon and it gets shipped to my doorstep in boxes.
Sorry libertas. Plastic bags are a shit coin. As a diver I see the ocean full of them is just one place they end up. Living in a country where they have been removed it is for the better and it doesn’t take much to make the adjustment. Just try it mate.
Plastic is not the problem. Shitty people who litter is the problem. I shouldn't be inconvenienced just because some other shitty humans can't find a trash can.
Trash cans is just organized littering. Human beings have been throwing their trash on the ground for fucking centuries.
Plastic is literally the problem, and capitalists who use it to save a penny and poison the earth are the problem.
🤣
very often there is no trashcan but i personally always hold it until i find one
the kind of people that drop their garbage everywhere are trash that we could all do without anyway
much of the time i'm just putting my groceries straight in a backpack
i don't use stupid "earth friendly" bullshit because it's far less durable and ergonomic
getting into a mentality of "blaming humans" for the acts of the least human is a game of misattribution and misanthropy
we are not all psychopaths
we are not all thrash dumping retards
if we have to live by rules that are required, and still don't work, on the least competent and virtuous we go straight back to the stone age
Yeah i get it. Simple case of the many that ruin it for the few. Ive been using mine for years to double bag pet doodoo and as liners for bathroom and other small waste bins, but will run out in a few weeks. After that ill have to decide whether to buy the bags in bulk, switch to something else or go without. The plastic bag bans wont reduce littering in the slightest, but they do gum up the infrastructure when not properly handled.
punishing everyone for the transgressions of a few does not solve the real problem
we have a society run by shitbags because too many of you all are cowards and want to cut your own dicks off to prevent rape
Paper bags. They can give you paper bags.
Give me paper bags with handles that don't rip and I'll use them. The state of Washington unilaterally decided that everyone has to just bring their own reusable bags instead. So I just don't go shopping in Washington anymore. I do all of my shopping in Idaho or online.
Your name says libertas primordium, but you can’t use your hands or arms to carry that which you purchase?
Lazy or stupid, take your pick.
Work smarter, not harder. I shouldn't have to make extra trips to carry all my groceries just because somebody else was throwing plastic bags on the ground. When I want to swing by the store after work to pick some stuff up I shouldn't have to go home first to grab some reusable bags. I shouldn't have to always keep a supply of them in my car just in case either. Plastic is a wonderful invention of modern life that makes my life easier. There's nothing wrong with buying it in landfills after I use it either. It's not my fault that some people are savages and throw garbage on the ground. They're the bad people, not me.
You fail to understand that Plastic is intrinsically bad, not the people, nor yourself. There are many ways to solve your issue of carrying your shit from the store. Plastic is simply the cheapest solution, and that is only true because the manufacturer of that plastic obfuscates the full expense of plastic.
Your obsession with making your life “easier” means your answer to my statement is “lazy”
It's effective. Give me something as effective or better and I will use that instead. Banning plastic bags is stupid regressive hippie shit that takes progress backwards. In all things, I prefer to use the most effective tool for the job.
A canvas bag is equally effective, in fact more so, as it is resilient. You’re just lazy and refuse to bring them with you to the store.
Honestly it’s not your fault, you’re a typically lazy American, raised during an age of consumption and trained to be self centered and myopic. I don’t blame you, but you should just embrace how lazy you are and admit the truth.
In bitcoin terms, you have a high time preference. Own it.
Progress is reducing either the cost or the effort required to accomplish a task. That's how you improve quality of life. Adding either more time or more effort to a task is the opposite of progress.
Before you start calling for a ban on single use plastic bags, you'd better invent something better that gets the job done. Put strong disposable single use bags in stores that are biodegradable. That would be progress. I won't entertain regressive ideas.
Dude, they fucking existed before plastic. I already told you the answer, paper bags. Canvas bags are an even better solution. Baskets have been weaves for centuries. You’re just ignoring the solitons, and refusing to accept your high time preference behavior.
Like I said, if they put paper bags with handles that don't rip in stores I will use those. Or give me burlap bags at the checkout that I can bag my groceries with. That would work too. Make them out of hemp maybe. That would probably be a lot stronger. But if you just take my plastic bags away and don't replace them with something that works just as well I'm going to call you a stupid regressive hippie and I'll stop shopping at your store. I don't spend any money in Washington State anymore because they did that shit.
It seems that the main issue here are externalities. Plastic bags are amazing solution if you don't include cost (indirect financial cost). One can argue that environmental issues plastic bags create is not that important, but this position is hard to maintain if you have ever been to a seaside
it just started in CO or at least in my county...for all bags. I've still never brought my own
In New York City most small corner stores (bodegas) ignore this.
I also just end up seeing cheaply made “reusable bags” from local super markets discarded all over the place.
Green must denote “feel good legislation that does nothing”
Plastic bags, plastic packaging, plastic containers, plastic products, recycling plastic, is all a shitcoin.
There are very few actual needs for plastic, and plastic and the majority of polymers should be regulated out of existence outside of those exceptions.

Tell that to the fucking birds I find dead on the beach with stomachs full of plastic.
lol u must have had a nice childhood
I did, I saw turtles and flamingos and fish all over, and when they died I found their bones and the bones of their food inside their stomach.
Now I find those animals starved to death with plastic in their stomach.
Nature is fuckin rad, plastic is not.
I will never give up plastic straws
Straws are fucking dumb, use your mouth.
There is a special place in hell for restaurants that give people paper straws.
Sure, we are a petro chemical society, so we need plastics. But why do you disagree with disincentivizing usage of some plastics (not talking about banning)?
Good morning and pura vida, Nostr! It's time to create notes and send zaps. 🫂🤙💜
