A proposal to inject AI-enabled censorship into 3D printer firmware. We likely have at least 4 years until something like this is mandated at a federal level, but it’s important to keep the 3D printing pipeline open source until then.

This won't stop it anyways. Firmware is largely open and built for most 3d printing boards. They start shipping from the factory with it, it will quickly be fixed with custom firmware.

Yup, as long as capable printers are open source there’s basically nothing that kind of mandate can do. There’s even recently an open source DMLS metal 3D printer.
