The cyanometer, invented in 1789 by a Swiss physicist & mountaineer, was designed to scientifically measure the intensity of the sky’s blue color. The instrument consisted of a circular chart with 52 shades of Prussian blue and was used on expeditions to record & compare sky tones… including the darkest blue ever documented over the Andes.
