I get everything from David Attenborough, to various female narrators.

Really!? Thatโ€™s crazy! Have you always had a narrator in your dreams? Like since childhood or is this a recent phenomenon?

Honestly, it's always been there.

I think it's similar to the whole internal monologue debate. Some people don't have conversations happening inside their head, others have an internal monologue that speaks with their own voice, while others have one that speaks with a voice that is not their own.

I'd imagine it's similar with dreams. For me, the "narrator" as I've chosen to describe it here, largely functions in the same role my internal monologue in my day-to-day life. The primary difference being that it will adopt other voices and tends to fill in context surrounding events occurring in these rapidly shifting and evolving dreams.

I wonder if to an extent it's the Mind's way of trying to maintain continuity and build connections between things that are so wildly different and discordant that the transitions may normally be jarring. Maybe it just takes on a voice to attempt to create a story between these disparate concepts and scenes.
