I just learned it is illegal for a business to charge a processing fee on debit cards to recoup the costs.

It is legal to do so on actual credit cards however.

But it is totally legal for Square, Visa, Mastercard to charge me the business for processing the transaction.

This is fucking bullshit. Fuck the banks, fuck this slave shit where I have to pay but I can't charge???

It is legal to offer a discount for cash. Again I am supposed to take a hit, not them. They just want to protect their racket.

Did anyone know this? Don't tons of places charge a devit card fee. Wtf?

It logistics, we padded prices with 2% and then offered a discount for timely payment. Which nearly everyone got, so it was actually a 2% fee on late payments.

Maybe an interesting model.

Yeah but if I have a fee on the receipt I need to cover my ass with the fee being sonething else. It is all so dumb. You can add a "pass thru fee" for something.

Yeah, often the rules can be subverted with some creative flexible - even legal flexibility. Most rules suck and serve the few rather than the most, so F’em and keep moving. . .
