Still grokking as to why I should care about Bolt12.

It looks like a way for a lightning node to publish a static request so a payment can go directly to the node, versus being routed through some online intermediary (such as a lightning address provider)

Does that sound about right?

That's only one small feature

The biggest one (imo) is when you make a payment, you can't see which node receives it
