I’ve got the fire inside, and am chasing that dream. The FI comes quickly, but it’s a long boring process to save and invest your way to the RE part.

The foundation of the movement is rooted in the 4% rule - so historically people should be alright when they run their Monte Carlo simulation. The movement’s rebuttal is that you can just cut spending in a down year.

BTC solves one leg of transporting money across time, but I think the FIRE crowd leans heavily towards being all in on an index fund. If you want to diversify your intergenerational wealth - perhaps generating income streams like a business can help you pass it off to the next generation (and avoid the taxation) is a wise choice if you’re not all in on BTC.

Once I dug deeper, the FIRE movement has reinforced my belief that you can’t just retire to sitting on your ass. Humans need community and a purpose.
