Yeah you ended up right but it wasnt like a jarring diffrence where it felt completly seperated 😁

It is separated until Harrison Ford appears imo xD, I enjoyed 2049 but I felt it was more a kind of homage to the original script. It was made to keep the cult alive 🌃
