hahahahahahahahahaha! You couldn't be more wrong, mate. Srsly. Did you know that many countries don't have area codes? In Iceland, your phone number is just 7 digits place the Iceland prefix for the international format.

For calling emergency, your phone has a huge buttom EMERGENCY. Calling 911 won't even do anything here, for one. In Europe it's 112.

You don’t get the problem, do you? With phone numbers, you are tied to one specific company that only exists in some part of the world. You can’t move to another country and keep your phone number (without paying an arm and a leg for roaming). You can’t easily have multiple numbers. There’s a shitload of limitations that need not exist.
