bloating the mempool with tens-of-thousands low or no fee transactions. Not really a big thing these days but back then it lead to the user activated soft-fork, SegWit, two Bitcoin forks and taproot. Now we have extended periods of days with almost empty blocks 😆

Transactions with fees cannot be spam, but zero-fee transactions definitely can be.
Wasn't there a 1sat/vbyte minimum fee introduced to eliminate those zero-fee transactions? 🤔
Cannot believe that zero-fee transactions had anything to do with UASF, SegWit or Taproot, though.
Yeah technically they cannot but back then fees exploded and nobody would pick up 1 sat transactions. oh you can believe it, I saw it with my own eyes and people like nostr:npub1q92nwwk8ndllkr6cdslxswt0n6pdgmm6lecpd4rwm89ydw37r0kslptxrw or nostr:npub1cllf97qv29kqc493t6xj26kqw2qsxmvnf6sl7w0mpnv2plt8wumqta3zny would probably tell you the same.
