I Want

I want to write music

To make your heart swell.

I want to frame poems

Exceedingly well.

I want to tell stories

That make people weep.

I hope that my love songs

Sweep you off your feet.

I want you to know

How "The Church" fell away;

Prolonging the night,

While professing The Day.

I want to live up to

Why God put me here;

I want to convey truth

To those I hold dear.

I'd like to know why

Life keeps blocking my way?

Why troubles keep stifling

Things I need say?

Pieces are missing;

My soul's incomplete.

I struggle

My self-expectations to meet.

For "want" has a synonym,

Verging on black;

The sad truth confronts me;

"I want" means

"I LACK..."

God help me,

I WANT!
