You can’t ever truly know another's intentions. And when discussing public figures, guessing intentions is fraught, and often just plain silly.

As such, we have to focus on actions. What did they mean? Who knows. But we can know what it was that they did. We can know the actions that they chose, whatever their reasons may have been. And that is what we should discuss. Viewable, verifiable, actions.
