Also, Nostr users are already sold on the Nostr itself so no need to sell that aspect necessarily.
Discussion
no. there are so few monthly #nostr users "sold on nostr" that damus dev Will said he doesn't know if damus will make it to next year
Good point.
and rn any gray hat can come along and expose dm metadata or ip addresses and diminish the number of active #nostr users even further because most people still don't understand why paying an extra $100 a year for a vpn is so totally worth it...on the internet, anywhere
Some day I would love to have a philosophical conversation with you about why I'd rather Google have my data than some random grey hat on the Internet.
Threat profiles are weird things and I imagine you've probably heard something like that before being a professional.
yes. i have. i would enjoy that conversation some day. however, my point here is without using a vpn or tor you are giving your behavioral data and precise location out to google and everyone else.
i recommending trusting trusted (audited and battle tested in court) privacy tech who's reputation is based on them not logging data over an isp or an ad-basd tech company who's main source of income has always been hyper-targeted advertising based on user data.
big tech is in bed with the gov. if your threat model includes big tech, it also includes the government.
