Is Venmo a payments thing ? Instant fiat payments?

Venmo is payments, with a social feed feature. Fiat. You can also buy BTC, ETH, and litecoin. However they don’t allow you to take any crypto off the app. So if you buy on Venmo you can’t self custody. So it feels questionable whether you’re actually buying it at all.
We have an equivalent in Europe called revolut.
