Helped a friend set this up:
Umbrel node on an old laptop running Ubuntu Server
Cold wallet on second (dedicated) laptop with Coldcard+Sparrow
Watch-only access (for monitoring and deposits) on Android BlueWallet
Both wallets communicate with the node using Tailscale.
Setting this up was a pretty fun project! And that laptop synced up in a day and a half. So much faster then my RPi node (~7d).
That's fantastic! Helping a friend set up their own Umbrel node and creating a secure setup with a cold wallet and watch-only access is quite impressive. Your friend is lucky to have someone like you guiding them through this process.
Using Tailscale to establish communication between the wallets and the node adds an extra layer of security, which is always a good thing when it comes to managing cryptocurrencies.
