Would an environmentalist oppose the consumption of "thrifted" or used goods as a waste of production/resources? Should the person buying used/thrifted goods be carbon shamed for wasting resources?

I'm makingan comparison to Bitcoin. Bitcoin is always seeking to consume thrifted emergy

I think that would depend on how the goods were consumed. An environmentalist would probably not oppose someone buying used clothes to send her children to school, for example, but probably would oppose someone else buying the clothes to make porcelain doll outfits. The environmentalist critique of Bitcoin is ultimately based on a value judgement.

Yeah I agree. I think comparing bitcoins energy use to something most environmentalists supoort/do on the regular will be a good way to open their minds.
