My kids are generally apathetic about politics, as are their friends, and I suspect the state is going to slowly erode in prominence due to sheer lack of interest and hard money.

They're writing all these new laws to intimidate and control people who ignore those new laws.

Best case scenario for sure. They don't have the ability to enforce anything.

I wouldn't bet that they would go down without a pretty protracted fight though.

Well, anarcho-tyranny seems to be the plan. Write a gazillion laws and selectively enforce them to make examples and terrorize everyone, like with COVID.

But the kids are getting harder to terrorize. Apathy can be a superpower and they increasingly have little to lose.

What do you take from someone who has nothing? You can't lock up the entire working population. And if you did, would they really even care?

We also have more homogenous and splintered societies, now, so different groups don't really pay attention to what the other groups are doing, and social shaming and naming is largely ineffective, and nobody talks to the cops.

Things fall apart.
