It's a different protocol similar to Fediverse but it's built on Blockchain technology I think. At least, as you can see from my username, it uses random strings as "keys" to access your account and do other things like follow.

Good to know. I am still learning. I have barely grasped things. I am only using the "social media" side right now but I do know barely anything...😅I'm trying to grasp it.
