My point was at least in the case of Nostr.

Nostr can't be an open permissionless system that can gain traction if the network effects are designed for Bitcoiners only.

I simply used BCH as they're probably the most disliked group of people by BTC.

Mastodon, and Bluesky gain traction because they're more focused on a broader audience.

Hmm it's an interesting point. Well, are people able to get coin-agnostic or altcoin specific NIPs added to the NIP repo?

If nostr is truly decentralized, there can be versions of it like this, whether or not it is added to the repo most people use for NIP specs. And nostr is truly decentralized. Ergo, someone can develop altcoin zaps for nostr. Whether or not it can be added to the main repo is simply then, assuming that nostr with altcoin zaps is defined as part of real nostr, the determining factor of whether the main NIP repo is the one true NIP repo.
