There is a mobile control app that can be convenient to temporarily disable ad block. Inevitably you'll run into a website that will be completely broken by ad block.

I use a supplemental custom list for blocking porn. It's a low effort but obviously not robust way to protect my kids from venturing into hell. I have girls but they can be influenced by boys to look things up, ask me how I know! I can link you to that if you're interested just let me know.

I can't think of the specific examples but I have also found some services that respond so poorly to blocked ads (DNS failure) that they are basically unusable so it's a better experience to whitelist and just live with the ads.

I enjoyed occasionally checking the stats on the dashboard to stay aware and vigilant about just how much every device is phoning home with analytics and how much pi-hole is blocking.
