Is anyone out there like me, intimidated by the whole BTC pay server set up thing?

Even reading a FAQ on it it reads like a foreign language to me, talks about entering code etc.

This is depressing.

Iโ€™m just technically literate enough to have bitcoin and transfer it to my wallet and pay for stuff if someone sends me an invoice. Well I successfully did it the one time I bought something with it.

I know my way around wallet transactions. I just don't understand the talk in the guides about BTC pay servers.

It's not as easy as technically savy people think it is. I don't want to seem lazy because I want to do this.

What are you stuck on? ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

Acronyms. Code speak.

I'm stuck on everything Fishy.

Similar position - I posted about this yesterday and someone suggested looking at the docs. Tried that already ๐Ÿ˜„

https://docs.btcpayserver.org/Deployment/voltagecloud/

Just use that, easy and works! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

I DM d you.

No DM observed. I am not on Amethyst and do not have support for nip44 or gift wrapping bs. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

Giftwrapping?

Hungh?

I feel totally lost and am really crying.๐Ÿ˜ญ

Have you seen the voltage service url? It should be as easy as signup and one button to spinup a server. Once you have that done, I can help you setup a shop and you should all be set. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

(since the service is for financial transactions, I can take no responsibility for its security or reliability)

Gift wrapping is yet another nip to make DMs more anon, thatโ€™s what I meant. Damus only supports original nip-04 DMs now. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซ‚

What other clients support giftwraps?

Amethyst DMs to me after usage of 0xChat are not visible in Damus to me. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

I might just have to - how much effort would it be to hire a server and install it though? I have a name cheap server package, I'd rather keep it there if possible and connect it to my own at home node

RTFM? Itโ€™s all there, just click the link and read about pricing ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

you need at least 2GB Ram and 80GB Storage and Docker on your VPS to install it

I've had great success here: https://www.lunanode.com/guides/btcpay

They make it really easy to get one set up. LND or CLN node can be added as well.

Shh keys? Another guide for every step is very frustrating.

I didn't do all that. Just the four steps under 'Deploy your VM'. They make it really easy. You can do the SSH stuff if you're trying to do more advanced stuff.

I have no idea what you are talking about..please stop using acronyms so people can understand.

1. Sign up for a LunaNode account: https://dynamic.lunanode.com/signup

2. Add funds to your account: https://dynamic.lunanode.com/panel/billing

3. Create an API key (access key) and note the API ID and key: https://dynamic.lunanode.com/panel/api

4. Paste those values in the launcher here: https://launchbtcpay.lunanode.com/

5. Follow the steps to deploy a BTCPay server with a full node and optional lightning node.

6. Wait a week (or 2-3 days if you pay a little extra) for the blockchain to download.

7. Have fun with your new BTCPay server.

8. OPTIONAL enable a lightning address (or multiples) and nostr verification via your BTCPay server plugins.

That's what made me ask this. That guide seems to be for people smarter than me or for devs.
