Just realised the orthogonal relationship of these two problems:
- Light sources should only produce photons and no heat.
- Nuclear reactors should only produce heat and no photons.
We got pretty far with LEDs compared to light bulbs (10% thermal waste and 90% light emission), but the inverted efficiency factor for nuclear fission would probably still not be acceptable as safe. 10% as photon-waste would probably still contain a lot of gamma radiation?

Good question. Precision lacking. I guess anything which is high energy but not photons? Stuff I can use to heat water without contaminating it?
