This bar in Cairo has clever designs for its restroom doors. (As a disclaimer the designs are mildly graphic I guess.)

The bar had a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band that was pretty good. They also had great food, including the best beef I’ve had in Egypt, which is why we went there.

Sometimes when I post pictures of Egypt, people ask how conservative the place is. The answer is that it varies a lot, as demonstrated by this place. West Cairo has a more cosmopolitan vibe than East Cairo on average, but overall it’s a big mix. You’ll see people in niqab, people in bikinis, and you’ll see mosques, churches, bars, etc.

That's one of the beautiful things about Egypt being the crossroads of 3

continents for millenia, it's always had a ton of diversity across so

many things. Whether it's the physical appearances of the people, the

subcultures in different regions, the religious groups, geographies, etc
