setting aside the scammery etc, its so interesting how these visual conventions / patterns evolve. its not even like a new language, its more a new communication protocol.

this is why although cartoons started as adult entertainment they became a tool for brainwashing children because children understand the overt gestures easier, for adults the purpose of the simplification is parody
i think there's more going on. not saying its good! but eg the reason one pic works brilliantly as a meme base and another doesn't.. if you try to explain objectively you realise is very very subtle
nothing new fundamentally - its from humans biological ability to distinguish facial expressions etc. but now its evolving at a completely new rate
