I know it can be difficult and confusing but very few people will treat you well just because it’s the right thing to do morally. It’s the same in business. You have to assert, advocate and negotiate for yourself from the get go and on an ongoing basis. However, I’m not explaining or bargaining for basic respect, empathy and consideration. Some people have decided to be horrible, and I’ll respect their decision and opt out of low quality interactions/relationships. Know the things that are beneath you!
