I wish more of this happened. Although I wouldn’t necessarily consider it upgrade, maybe revival. It’s very sad that many new categories of content (electronic/hip hop) make it distasteful for an artist to perform someone else’s composition, although sampling and remixing are tolerated, and dj’s play still recordings of the composition, deadmau5 would be I’ll-received performing a composition of aphex twin, and Kendrick would be mocked performing the composition of Tupac. I would go so far as to say these categories of content aren’t even musical genre’s until this is an acceptable and honorable practice, just categories of content.

in the visual art world it’s sad to see revivals of Van Gogh into interactive experiences where the artists who adapted this work for modern times go barely mentioned, and mostly just considered employees and not artists reviving the work.
