I met with a Nihung Sikh community. Here is my conversation.
I asked them where they live ?
“We are everywhere, we have no address”
Where do you sleep ?
“We are travellers, we will sleep where ever we end up”
What if it rains ?
“We will seek shelter under trucks”
Where do you get food and money from ?
“We don’t use money, we use the currency of love. In exchange of love within the community we are provided with an abundance of food and friendship”
Don’t you want to work and earn so that you can buy land for your future ?
“We don’t need to buy land, it all belongs to us. It’s gods land, and we are his children. We are free to walk and stay where ever we go. Just like the air is free for us all, the land is free too. To avoid complications, we tend to settle in forests and jungles”
Are you afraid of anything ? What about war ?
“No fear. If there is war or an uprising , we are ready”
Are you happy ?
“I am ecstatic”
Is there anything you need ?
“No, we can start a fire, we can build shelter, we can obtain scrap metal/iron and make weapons, we can grow food. We are good, don’t need anything”
