I am absolutely loving the songs from the ST #StrangeNewWorlds #musical! : D
It's my new favourite thing, and I've been obsessively listening to Apologies since I saw it. The way Ethan Peck pulls off a confused Spock crooning about the warp core, then wondering in song why he's doing so, is *priceless*. They all do an incredible job with the singing, but Christina Chong - who plays Security Officer La'an Noonien-Singh - is the standout for me. Both in the ensemble numbers and her solo. Gold.
The only thing I didn't love about the SNW musical was the way it treated the Klingons.
There was a *fantastic* and totally missed opportunity there to regale us with some epic Klingon opera, full of fire and fury. Instead they went for a lame gag, where the Klingons dialed in a whiney boy band bit, making a serious hole in the hull of the final number.
The second song with Number One and Kirk was my least favourite of the Enterprise crew songs, but compared to that Klingon gag, it was great.
