Hey HODL, thanks for pushing back on this.
My initial reaction (and comment on your episode) was that you kept it simple without actively underestimating the intelligence of the viewer.
I then shared this with a friend here in Canada, and the part that turned them off was the “Tyrannical response to COVID in the West in line with 3rd world dictatorships". They immediately link this type of speak with the freedom/trucker protest which was the most politically polarizing Canadian event I've ever seen. To this day, it's still a rough discussion topic.
My comment was likely too aggressive and general. I appreciate you taking the time to address it.
Unfortunately the response was tyrannical and anti freedom. I don’t believe it is a conservative position to accurately diagnose reality.
Shutting down people’s bank accounts and banning them from flight/trains/etc is objectively tyrannical.

I agree that it’s accurate, but the protest coverage was so negative people have a hard time separating accuracy from narrative. The Left here definitely consider that a conservative view point.
I remind my friends to pay attention to how those in power treat the people they disagree with. It’s the most telling signal. A lot of Canadians can’t look ahead to see how amassed power will affect them when “the other side” gets in.
Yeah the cognitive dissonance is thick. Your friend may not come to realize what’s happening until it’s too late.
Unfortunately I don’t think my friend even close is alone. I’m always hopeful to find ways of presenting Bitcoin through a different lens that reaches people where they are without trying to change their word view to prioritize freedom from government. I actually thought the bit on inclusion was something that brought a lot of value to the interview.
