one of my favorite things about the cuban culture is the ability to be brutally honest without being offensive or comments being taken the wrong way

there's a lightness of heart, understanding that people are looking out for you and genuine curiosity that is generally understood

in american culture the same comments come off more as judgmental and competitive

what made me think of this was I told a buddy we want a cow and his literal translation answer was

"What trauma do you have that makes you want a cow" 😂

So whose words were perceived as offensive here?

Nope, not at all, we both laughed. It's hard to explain why.

The non literal and somewhat non verbal communication was something like. "Brother, help me understand because wanting that is very different." I don't know how to translate it fully

Dutch culture is the same the closer you are the more "rude" it gets

Would someone plz explain to my wife that I identify as Cuban 🤣🤣
