Various Native American tribes have folklore that narrates the tower's origin as a result of an intense escape from gigantic bears. According to these stories, the ground rose to shield a group of young girls from the bears, leaving behind deep claw marks on the rock.

In contemporary times, the tower is honored as a sacred site, where local tribes perform rituals and offer prayers. While it is a popular destination for climbers, a voluntary climbing ban is observed in June to honor these cultural traditions. Devils Tower continues to captivate visitors, symbolizing a profound blend of natural splendor and cultural legacy, representing both geological marvels and spiritual significance.
