I listened to it and seeing that you’ve been at the helm of it for many years now, it was informative. Esp the talk about the fear of Threads with some hope of, “…they might give a chance.” (roughly quoted).

You mention, “They now co-exist but at one point, probably one protocol will win.” Does this mean Soapbox/Rebased and Ditto will walk a different path and you won’t be invested in Soapbox/Rebased anymore? Or will Tossoman/Marcin etc take over?

As long as Spinster is on Rebased, it will be maintained. Spinster may even stay on Rebased forever, and so Rebased wouild live forever. But Ditto will have all the cool new features, so I think people will want to be using it once it gets there.

Getting rid of rebased would avoid all of the drama that caused ppl to leave spinster recently, js.

People left because of the backend to spinster?

I don’t even totally remember that drama, I think it had to do with Alex’s connections to the PPN. I’ll have to look into this to be sure.

I don't get this aspect honestly, because Alex always helps out anyone whose instance is on Rebased regardless of problem severity.

Say what you will about Daniel, but Alex simply providing assistance upon request with front and backend issues isn't equivalent to an endorsement of the conduct (or lack of) of the instance operator he helps out.

Nuance is important.
