Update on the s9 revival. Settled on a 400w tune with all 3 hash boards working. Fans basically silent running at 1%. That was yielding a steady 4.6TH.

- After finally hitting a block with nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze pool my humble s9 yielded me a whole 67 satoshis.

- According to ocean it would take about 7 years for me to reach the payout threshold 😂.

- not feasible to mine with a pool, too power hungry to leave on as a lotto miner… sad to say but I think the age of the s9 is officially over ☠️ nostr:note17qeh2hkg4r38l8whfl0nw7krtpx0u2c0k3d4fkzatdvhe43r232sgad4yz

You can get lightning pay out from the ocean but gotta run CL

Or proxy pool such as braiins does lighting pay out

Yeah i read through the documentation for ln payouts and it seemed a little too complex for my tastes rn.. I do want to experiment with CLN but not gonna start now just for this. Besides at over 40 cents / KWh in California this thing ain’t coming close to paying for itself 😂. I do have plans to try out the Loki board so I can run a single s19 hashboard though 👀 that should give me like 3 or 4x the hashrate at the same power draw.

Yeah makes sense!

just saw this reply, makes sense disregard my response

I’m actually super on board with nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze for all the reasons you just mentioned. Just need a more efficient machine! Cheers Moro!!

you can get paid out each block if you run a core lightning node and set up Ocean to pay out to a bolt12 offer. I do it that way with my rag tag collection of under 20 Th/s Th/s. Once you have this set up, you will get paid the most out of any pool (because of Ocean's 0% pool fee) and you will get paid out the most often (every 4 days is the expected block find at 1 Eh/s, the pool's current network contribution). makes the kind of mining you are doing possible.

Oh man! I was hoping it would be a better outcome for you!

Haha it’s all good the old tanker was retired in the closet for a reason. I bought it just to play with and learn about mining and for that I absolutely got what I wanted out of it. Next experiment will be to convert an s19 to run on 120v and make a custom enclosure to run a single hashboard at home!

S9 will never die… as such, so they become heaters.

physicall and operationally, the thing is an absolute tank. Still hashing away after all these years without hesitation. But economically (even as a space heater) s19’s or even s17’s can be had for just a few hundred bucks and make exponentially more sense..

the only advantage to the s9 is the direct plug in to 120v with no modifications, but there are people solving that problem for the newer gen miners already and I expect those solutions to get more popular / more user friendly as time goes by.

Couldn’t agree more. Regarding tank and 120v sentiments.

I have a design to bring S19 efficiency to the North American living room. Zack Bomsta dropped Loki on the world and changed the game.

Can’t wait to get my hands on one (or many) of those Lokis haha.. Looking forward to whatever youre cooking up too!

Duuuude… go check it www.pivotalpleb.com

He released a guide to get APW12 running on 120v as well.

👀!

Dude This is so sick. Did you print that enclosure too?!

This is the best note I’ve seen today 🏆

He’s good to follow. Excited to see this thing live!

I’ve been wondering does the control board accept regular 4 pin pwm pc fans? Or do you have to get any special dams/adapters??

I’m using 4x Noctua for standard PWM control.

But PivotalPlebTech.com also make the Njord board…. Plugs into CB and allows FW to control an AC infinity inline fan.

Thanks for the follow nostr:npub1jd0hhpc7ched2rgg2ej6smzdd5gzenpag48r2gea2pgynafqtevqwm0cwj! Coincidentally, I just bookmarked this thread yesterday to check out when I got the chance. Love what you’re doing with the StealthMiner. 😎🤙

🙏🏻 I've been building during the bear and quite encouraged by everyone's interest in what I am doing over here.

I too look forward to getting a 120V S19 for the upcoming winter. 🤙
