Might make sense to reframe this is defense spending?

$457 billion (EU 2024) is asking $968 billion (US 2024) to defend it against $462 billion (Russia, adjusted for ppp).

ppp accounts for differences in currency value and domestic costs... but thos all goes to hell if war actually erupts in Europe. Interesting to see that it seems like in 2024, Russia's defense spend, when adjusted for PPP, comes to approx $462 billion - surpassing the combined defense budgets of the EU and the UK...

It's all pretty fucking insane out there.

fair points. I'm not sure if PPP can be used directly when comparing defense budgets, but it definitely plays role.

Yeah - the ppp comparison feels "off" for sure. I do think if adds so color to the comparison though. Comparing populationsl sizes seems antiquated at best 🤷🏼
