That's impressive. I had no idea you could find king parrots and goannas in the same vicinity.

We get lots of lizards, frogs, about six species of parrot, as well as koalas, possums and kookaburras. At our local beach we get dolphins, seals and great white sharks.

Before I moved back to Adelaide a couple of years ago I lived in the Dandenong Ranges just outside of Melbourne, which had more birds than I could list, including lyrebirds and king parrots you could feed by hand, echidnas, kangaroos, platypus and more spiders than I thought I'd ever see, along with spectacular ferns and gum trees that are about 60m tall.

But for all of that, I think I'm the only person in Australia who's never seen a snake in the wild.

Must admit it surprised me to see a Goanna at all in our street. Maybe it was some other kind of mahoosive reptile, but there it was. Not seeing snakes in the wild doesn't mean you haven't been near any! My wife came home with an actual bite mark once and didn't even know!

Ah kookaburras I forgot those. There's a "koalas" sign in our street but I've not seen one.
