I use thermal underwear when it's just 10°c/50°f outside, even though I'm ethnically Northern European living in the northern half of Southern Europe.

I don't regret moving from Latin American climes, but I don't like winter weather.

To be fair, you can even go from glacier to rainforest in a couple of hours in some places provided the road is not washed out.
