I think it’s expensive to host. Servers GPUs, storage etc.
That doesn’t affect end users though. That’s Open AI’s problem

It’s going to absolutely be the end user’s problem.
If it’s expensive to run it will either stop being offered, charged for, monetized in some other way (data harvesting? Ads?).
They’re already monetizing, there are tiers.
